Keep Track of SharePoint Permissions without a Third Party Tool

It’s not very high tech, but it works. Create a spreadsheet with tabs for your SharePoint Groups/Sites Matrix and each permission level used on the site. You may need to expand the SharePoint Groups/Sites Matrix to include lists and libraries that are uniquely secured.

Here is an example of one I’ve used.

PermissionsMatrix

    Hi Tamara!

I’m working on a project for a client in creating something just like this. The template link above is no longer working. Would you mind sharing or updating the link?

    Thanks!

Hi thanks for a great blog, this type of permission matrix is exactly what I’m looking for. Wondering though if there is any matrix that is a bit more up to date and reflects the updates made to SharePoint Online and what permission rights are available to assign these days?

This seems like a practical way to manage permissions.
